Preserving Highland Cattle Heritage
Nestled on a peaceful, eco-sustainable 300-acre property in Southeast Queensland, Vagabond Highlands is a registered breeder of purebred Highland Stud Cattle. Our cattle are specially bred for Queensland conditions, with calm temperaments and are fully halter trained making them the perfect pet who enjoy spending time with children and the elderly.
At the heart of Vagabond Highlands is Farmer Jules and her daughters, Haylee and Jess, who share a deep love for their "hairy coos." Farming runs in Jules’ blood—she is a generational farmer with over 15 years of experience breeding some of Australia’s smallest, quietest, and most beloved Highlands. She has led the way in Queensland by successfully flushing Highland cows under embryo transfer and expanding genetic diversity through Artificial Insemination, using world-class sires and Queensland-bred, raised dams.

Meet The Farmers
The Ladies Of The Land
Jules and her daughters Haylee and Jess live on the Vagabond Highlands property and regularly spend time with all their animals using gentle handling techniques ensure all cattle are extremely quiet and used to children..
Together this trio bring the farm life together and share a beautiful family bond all unique in their own way.
Farmer Jules
Jules wears many hats—she’s a dedicated registered nurse, a university laboratory educator, and the heart and soul behind Vagabond Highlands. Jules runs the day-to-day farm operations and is passionate about leaving the land in a better condition for future generations. But her absolute favorite way to unwind? Watching the sun set over the paddocks, surrounded by her beloved coos.

Farmer Jess
A passionate reader and talented writer, Jess has already published two books and is currently studying at University.
While she may not be in the paddocks as much as Jules and Haylee, she plays a vital role behind the scenes, managing the business and accounting side of Vagabond Highlands. Her love for the farm runs deep, and she ensures that everything stays organised so the farm can continue to thrive.
Farmer Haylee
With a deep passion for Highlands, Haylee has built her own Highland stud, Rosewood Coos, growing it to five purebred beauties. For the past five years, she has actively shown cattle at local, state, and national levels, earning over 50 ribbons along the way. As an enthusiastic member of the Queensland Branch of the Australian Highland Society, she loves mentoring new members and inspiring young people to fall in love with these incredible animals.
Known as the "Highland Whisperer," Haylee has an extraordinary bond with the cattle—so much so that they trust her completely, allowing her to interact with their newborn calves and halter-train them with her own gentle methods.
The Highlands follow her anywhere, which makes her an invaluable part of our photography sessions with @kelsieswanphotography, also hosts farm visits, sharing her love of Highlands with others who want to experience their magic up close.
